Went to the airport at 4am last night with my daddy to fetch my sis home. A lil bit of background details: my sis went Aussieland to represent S'pore for some under-17 fencing tournament, she got gold for the team event and silver for the individual event.

Upon their arrival at belt 17 of Terminal 1 Changi Airport, they took 15 mins at the luggage belt. I was wondering why they took so damn long 'cos my teh peng effect was wearing off. When they came out, they were all wearing their white Team Singapore jacket and their medals around their necks. There were 3 girls and their Russian coach. One over-enthusiasitc parent suggested that we should all clap as an appreciation of the girls' efforts and also to encourage them further to spur them on. So, they started clapping. Even daddy joined in. I was so damn bloody embarassed la. It was like a much much toned-down scene of some athlete who won a gold medal at the SEA games coming back. Gosh.
-______-"

Later in the car, I learnt from my sis that they took so long at the luggage belt 'cos the coach wanted them to wear their jackets and to put on their medals. For a moment I actually thought that the coach had them wear the jackets and the medals all the way from Aussieland. Like, right after they won it. And not to take them off even when they slept or bathed or pang sai.

My god. The next time I'll ever volunteer to go pick my lil sis up from the airport is if she wins a medal at the SEA games in December. Otherwise, its damn bloody embarassing. Luckily it was 4am and there were only the air crew from that flight, some other passengers, the parents, a few cleaners and the taxi drivers.
